Escaped prisoner captured

An escaped prisoner from Lake City is once again back in custody after crashing a stolen vehicle.

Sunday morning Winter Haven Police spotted a vehicle driven by 20-year-old Devonte Bodison who had escaped from a work release camp earlier in the day.

Police and Polk County Sheriff’s Office tracked the vehicle through Lake Wales and eventually pulled the car over. As officers were approaching the stopped vehicle Bodison drove off.

During the chase, Bodison’s car left the roadway striking concrete lawn ornament causing a wheel to come off the car. The car flipped over on its side. Bodison exited the vehicle out of the sunroof and began to run. He was quickly caught by officers.

Bodison will be booked into the Polk County Jail.
