Family asks for answers as investigation into Palmetto musician's death continues

PALMETTO (FOX 13) - Almost two weeks after a Palmetto-based musician was hit and killed by a pick-up truck, family and close friends are growing restless as they wait for more information on what led up to the incident.

Witnesses describe it as a case of road rage, but the Florida Highway Patrol has not filed charges against the driver that ran down Bradley Yost, 32, on Bayshore Road, the night of Dec. 6.

According to FHP, Yost got out of his car and stepped into the roadway, close to the pickup truck that hit him.

Officials said Yost's body got caught underneath the truck and was dragged to 73rd Street.

“As you learn the details about it, that sadness turns so quickly to anger,” said Justin Hayhurst, one of Yost's close friends who also helped him step into the Bay Area music scene.

Yost was a regular singer at Peggy's Corral and was adored by his fans who packed the bar every Tuesday night for his performances.

“He’s got one of [those] voices that you’ll never forget," said Lance Biddle, another close friend. "When you hear his voice, it was that raspy, great-sounding voice on a microphone... He was part of the family.”

Friends and Yost's family from Ohio gathered Tuesday to share memories and pray for the man they describe as talented, genuine, and friendly.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the investigation is ongoing.
