Farm worker killed by lightning strike at Falkner Farms

- Three farmhands at Falkner Farms were struck by lightning Monday, and one of them was pronounced dead shortly after. 

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office said it happened around 5 p.m. at Falkner Farms, located at 35100 State Route 64. 

Deputies said the three were loading a truck when a storm developed and lightning hit them. They were taken to the hospital, where one of them, a 47-year-old, died. The name of the victim will be be released after family is notified.

The other two were treated and released.
