86-year-old man dies in St. Pete traffic crash

- An 86-year-old man has died following a Monday morning crash in St. Petersburg.

Around 6 a.m., St. Petersburg police say Humberto Sella was using his walker to cross 4th Street North at 112 Avenue North, when he was hit by two vehicles, a Nissan Rogue and a SAAB 20T. He passed away at the scene. Police closed the southbound lanes for a few hours before reopening by 11 a.m.

Police say both drivers stayed at the scene and they do not think impairment is a factor in the crash. There is a traffic signal and crosswalk at the intersection, but investigators say they are trying to determine whether the light was red or green.
