WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. (FOX 13) - Investigators are looking for the cause of a mobile home fire in Wesley Chapel, Florida that left a woman dead and a man seriously burned.
Neighbors off Boyette Road said they heard three explosions and then saw intense flames.
Chris Cayer says he saw the man who lived in the home blown out into the yard. Cayer said he was on fire.
“I saw the guy fly out of the window and me and one other guy were trying to put him out. It took over 10 minutes to put his body out,” said Cayer.
He said they knew a woman was trapped inside, but the flames were too intense for neighbors or firefighters to attempt a rescue.
“It’s a mobile home so unfortunately, it burns fast,” said Pasco County Fire Rescue Chief Shawn Whited. “By the time our crews arrived on the scene, the house was fully involved.”
Whited said investigators from his agency, along with the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office and the State Fire Marshall’s Office are investigating the cause.
Whited said a dog trapped inside was also killed in the fire.
The man was severely burned and flown to the hospital.
