FHP: Deer cause crash with critical injury

A Winter Haven man is critically injured after the car he was a passenger in swerved out of the path of several deer - and crashed into the trees.

It happened around 1:00 a.m. Saturday on State Road 674 east of County Road 39.  The Florida Highway Patrol says 26-year-old Dalton Lang Storie was driving a BMW eastbound on State Road 674, when he swerved to avoid deer in the road. Troopers say he then over-corrected to the north, lost control and spun out into the trees.

One passenger - a 25-year-old man from Winter Haven, was critically injured in the crash. His name has not been released. Storie and a second passenger, a 25-year-old man from Bartow, both suffered minor injuries.

Troopers say Storie has been cited for driving with a license suspended and driving without insurance.
