FHP: Motorcyclist dies after colliding with school bus

An 18-year-old passed away after a Monday morning collision with a school bus, officials said.

Florida Highway Patrol has identified the 18-year-old as Mitchell Roberge.

They said Roberge was speeding on a motorcycle and making multiple lane changes while traveling northbound on 49th Street.

A Pinellas County school bus was heading southbound on 49th Street North and turned east onto 58th Avenue North.

Roberge changed lanes again as it approached the same intersection and collided with the right rear corner of the school bus, according to FHP.

He was ejected from the motorcycle and died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet.

FHP said there were no injuries on the school bus, which was transporting seven children to Sawgrass Elementary School.
