FHP searching for vehicle after US 19 hit-and-run

- The Florida Highway Patrol said a pedestrian was killed while crossing US 19 in Pasco County.

The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. on US 19 near Saltwater Boulevard.

The victim, 56-year-old Stephen Matava Jr., was struck by three vehicles, according to troopers.

FHP said the first vehicle that hit the victim fled the area. The other two drivers remained at the scene and are not facing charges.

Troopers are now searching for a charcoal gray Hyundai sedan or SUV. Anyone with information about the crash should contact FHP.
