Fire damages Venice boardwalk

- Police in Venice have launched an investigation into a fire that caused heavy damage to the boardwalk and picnic area at Service Club Park early Sunday morning.

Firefighters responded to the fire just after 3:30 a.m. When they arrived, they found the boardwalk in flames and a quarter-acre brush fire in the area. Crews had the flames out by 5:00 a.m.

Police are working to determine the circumstances around the fire.
