Fire hits Clearwater business

Authorities are investigating an overnight fire at a Clearwater business.  Dispatchers received the call to Cycle Springs Powersports on U.S. 19 shortly after 4:30 a.m.  Flames and smoke poured from the roof as multiple agencies tackled the blaze.

Firefighters added water from above, using a ladder truck to douse the burning building.  According to a Clearwater fire spokesperson, 18 pieces of fire equipment ultimately arrived on scene.

Pinellas County deputies shut down the northbound lanes of U.S. 19 near Curlew Road for hours as crews worked to extinguish the flames.

No one was hurt.

A fire investigator described the impacted building as a workshop or maintenance area. He told FOX 13
concerns about hotspots and structural integrity delayed investigators entering the building.

The cause of the fire has not been determined. Authorities say sorting through debris could take hours.

According to an owner, Cycle Springs Powersports is a family-owned business that's been open since 1991 and located off U.S. 19 since 1995.
