Tickets still available for Donald Trump rally at USF

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump announced Sunday he'll make a campaign stop at the USF Sun Dome on Friday. Monday morning, the event website Eventbrite.com showed tickets were sold out.

However, Monday afternoon, those hopeful to snag a seat for the rally were able to reserve tickets.

FOX 13 reached out to Sun Dome officials to clear up the ticketing confusion and we will update this story as soon as we know more.

Whether you love or hate Trump, many University of South Florida students said they feel like the once-unlikely presidential candidate, turned Iowa caucus runner-up, will generate interest when he comes to Tampa.

The rally is scheduled for this Friday, February 12. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and the event starts at 7 p.m.

The school told FOX 13 that the capacity for the rally at the Sun Dome is 10,000 people. Many attendees are expected to be USF students, who are already talking about the event.

"I do think that USF is one of the more politically-active schools around here, especially in the Bay area, and so whether or not people are supporters of Trump, I think they'll go and see what it's about," student Saad Chowdhury said.

Some said that even if they don't support Trump politically, his star power is what draws them to want to attend the event.

"More than anything, he's become sort of a celebrity again in this sense. So regardless of whether or not people support him, they're definitely going to come out and check him out," Chowdhury said.

Tickets to the campaign rally are free, but currently sold out. Parking at the USF Sun Dome will cost $20 per vehicle.
