A suspect was arrested and charged with beating and robbing a veteran outside a St. Petersburg Walmart.

St. Pete police arrested 37-year-old Harold Stewart for the armed robbery of Jeffery Hardeman, who was using a walker at the time. Police say Stewart beat Hardeman with the walker, then stole it, along with Hardeman's wallet.

Detectives arrested Stewart in Tampa and located the blue Dodge Durango seen on Walmart surveillance video at the incident.

Meanwhile, Good Samaritans who heard Hardeman's story are stepping forward to help. Hardeman was using the walker while recovering from an injury. Wednesday, an anonymous donor gave Hardeman a brand new walker to replace the one that was stolen.

And on Thursday, not one, but two Good Samaritans also stepped forward to donate $600 each to Hardeman.

One of the donors left the cash at the St. Pete Police Department in an envelope with the message: "From 1 vet to another hope this makes things better."
