Construction continues at the site of the new Goody Goody restaurant going into Hyde Park Village.

While the building is new, Goody Goody is actually a reinvention of the old drive-in on Florida Avenue.

Richard Gonzmart of the Columbia Restaurant Group purchased the brand and is re-introducing Goody Goody burgers to a new generation.  Friday morning, he hosted the Cafe Con Tampa community group at the site of the new restaurant on West Swann Avenue.

He said that, while Goody Goody is famous for its burgers, it's also going to be serving breakfast -- all day long.

"I like coffee cake so much that i'm going to make my French toast with coffee cake -- really, really, rich.  When I tasted it, I said, 'Oh my God.' This is going to be OMG coffee cake toast, made right in our bakery."

Gonzmart won't give an opening date, yet, simply saying they'll open when it's ready.
