TAMPA, Fla. (FOX 13) - Love will be in the air in the Bay Area in a few short weeks, as Hallmark movie crews return to shoot another film.
Less than two months after crews wrapped “True Love Blooms” in St. Petersburg, Hollywood will be returning to not only Pinellas County, but also Hillsborough.
“I can confirm they are filming in downtown Tampa,” said Tyler Martinolich with Film Tampa Bay. “The portion they are shooting in, Tampa will be made to look like another major U.S. city.”
Safety Harbor and Treasure Island will also be shooting locations for the film, including the marina and pier in Safety Harbor, and the sandwich shop on Main Street.
The script was originally written for Hawaii, but the creative team decided to change it to Florida back in February, according to producer Elayne Schneiderman Schmidt.
Tony Armer with the Pinellas County Film Commission said many are influenced by the county’s incentive program.
“It’s a program that we’ve had in place since 2007, and it’s 10 percent of what’s spent locally is reimbursed,” Armer said. “It’s a big part of why we’ve now had two Hallmark films, and we have another film, an independent film, right after Hallmark wraps.”
But it’s not only the money, it’s also the charm.
“I think those of us that live here always know how beautiful the area is,” Armer said. “It’s different from an Orlando and Miami, and doesn’t feel as corporate. It gives you that family-friendly feel that feels more like Hallmark.”
