Harlem Globetrotters' name 15th ever female teammate

- Briana "Hoops" Green is the fifteenth woman to earn a roster spot on the Harlem Globetrotters.

The Kentucky native says social media played a role in getting her that spot.

"So, I think we all have a different story," explained Green. "My story was that I was posting videos on social media, on Facebook -- basketball videos. Everybody kept commenting and tagging them and mentioning them, so that's when the idea got put into my head."

Those videos got the attention of the Globetrotters, and Green was given a tryout.

"I didn't know what to expect," she said. "When you look at it, it's like, how are you doing that? It looks like magic."

Unbeknownst to her, trick shots weren't a part of that tryout.

"I was starting to practice but, I knew how to dribble," Green said. "I've always been a dribbler and how to handle the ball and do tricks with the ball, so I did show them that. That helped!"

Eventually earning the nickname Hoops, Green now travels the world performing for audiences across the globe.

"We do this every game, but you know, it's live," she said. "Different stuff happens, different crowd, different audiences, different locations, so it's always different. You never know what to expect."

It's a job that is never, ever boring.

"It's amazing to be a part of such an iconic brand," Green said.

The Harlem Globetrotters return to Tampa and Amalie Arena Friday, December 8. Tickets are still available.
