HCSO: Man faces murder charge for deadly hammer attack

- Deputies have charged the man they believe bludgeoned a sleeping man to death using a hammer.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says the suspect came into the home on Spencer Circle through an unlocked back door, hit the victim several times with the weapon, robbed the victim, and ran off.

Deputies say the suspect was seen in surveillance video arriving at 63-year-old Wendall Scott's house just after 6 a.m. Sunday.

The suspect, Sean Anderson, 47, went into the bedroom where Scott was sleeping. Deputies say Anderson beat Scott on his neck, face, and head with a hammer.

Anderson then took Scott's wallet, money, credit cards, and methamphetamine before leaving, deputies say.

Anderson was arrested and deputies say he admitted to killing Scott. He has been charged with first-degree murder, burglary, and assault/battery.
