Early voting starts next week and Tuesday, election workers tested the equipment in an ongoing effort to fight voter fraud.

At the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Office, they say rigging an election in Florida is nearly impossible. On Tuesday, workers tested the machines and verified everything was in working order.

Among the safeguards: Voting machines and vote counting machines are not hooked to the internet and cannot be accessed from outside, paper ballots are used so that manual recounts can happen, and voter roles are constantly checked.

Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections, Craig Latimer said they check the machines multiple times to make sure, "we don't have dead people coming in to vote, we don't have convicted felons coming into vote, we have good voter roles and we have good elections."

The machines and ballots are now under 24-hour surveillance until they're taken to early voting locations next week. Early voting starts Monday in Hillsborough County.
