Hillsborough County detention deputies took some time out of their day to bring smiles to the faces of kids at Tampa General Hospital. The Easter Bunny even stopped by with a basket full of eggs to give to the patients there.

June Barrow, a volunteer from Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Department of Detention Services, takes time out of her day to suit up as the Easter Bunny. She visited with children and patients at the hospital hoping to put a smile on their faces.

"To give back to those in a time of need, when they think that they're the only one. If I can give them a moment in time, it takes away the pain that they're feeling or the troubles that they have and that's what my objective is," Barrow said.

Patients at the hospital shared with Barrow how much this means to them.

"She said to me, 'you don't know how important this is, just to have a hug.' If we can give you just a moment of joy, that's what we're here for," Barrow said.

Some patients may not be able to celebrate Easter with their loved ones. By dressing up as the Easter Bunny, Barrow can bring a little bit of joy to the patients.

"It's very emotional for me because I want them to know that we care," she said.

"Life is short, you don't know what tomorrow's gonna bring, but I want to bring the moment right now for them," Barrow said.
