Homicide investigation underway at Tampa restaurant

- One person was found dead inside a Tampa nightclub, police said.

Tampa police officers are investigating a homicide at the Island Grill, a restaurant and club, located at 3404 East Lake Avenue after responding to the scene before 2 a.m. Preliminary information indicates an incident appeared to have stemmed from an altercation, they said, involving several people. It does not appear to be related to any other homicide investigations and it is not random.

The victim has been identified as Kemar Odeane Officer, 27. He was found inside the establishment. Police have not said whether a suspect has been located, but are questioning dozens of witnesses.

Shell casings from bullets were found outside, police said. It’s unclear if the shooting occurred outside or inside the club. It's possible there could be other victims who may show up at a local hospital.

A stabbing also occurred at the restaurant, which police said is related to the shooting. The victim has non-life threatening injuries.
