Injured osprey rescued from FOX 13 anchor's backyard

A FOX 13 anchor had her own wild adventure, in her own backyard.

Over the weekend, a young osprey fell out of its nest and into the yard of Good Day anchor, Laura Moody. It was injured, and as a protected species in Florida, you’re not allowed to touch it.

Moody and her husband contacted the Tampa Bay Raptor Rescue. As they waited for their arrival, Moody said, “suddenly, my husband thought he worked for National Geographic.” She snapped a photo of him laying belly-down on the grass, facing the baby osprey, and taking his own photos of the surprise visitor.

The entire time, Moody said, the mother osprey watched from her perch. The rescuers said they will rehab the little one, and return it back to its home, in Moody’s backyard.
