LEGOLAND creates autism-friendly attractions
WINTER HAVEN (FOX 13) - LEGOLAND Florida is partnering with Autism Speaks to make parks more enjoyable for visitors with autism spectrum disorders.
The resort said it's installing sensory-stimulating activities in a quiet space at the park. It's the first of several autism-friendly projects planned for the park.
Autism Speaks staff members and volunteers are consulting on the development and installation of “quiet rooms” and other resort facilities designed to meet the needs of guests with autism. They will also help educate LEGOLAND staff, aka "Model Citizens," about the unique needs of guests with ASD.
On Saturday, April 23, LEGOLAND Florida Resort will sponsor the Kids Zone area during the Autism Speaks Walk at Tropicana Field and on Saturday, Nov. 12, during the Autism Speaks Walk at Cranes Roost Park in Altamonte Springs.
