TAMPA, Fla. (FOX 13) - A Tampa teacher is accused of having a sexual relationship with a student.
Hillsborough County deputies arrested 30-year-old Eric Milis, a teacher at Leto High School, after detectives said they learned of the alleged sexual contact with a student almost two years ago.
The victim, who is now 19 years old, reported it to school officials and a school resource deputy, according to the sheriff's office.
According to detectives, the victim said she was a 17-year-old student when the relationship started. Milis was 28 years old at the time of the alleged incident.
Officials said they overheard a conversation with Milis admitting to the victim he had a sexual relationship with her while she was still a minor. Detectives responded to his home and he was arrested Tuesday night.
“There are no other victims believed to be involved in this incident,” according to a statement by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Milis faces a charge of unlawful sexual activity.
The school's directory lists him as a teacher in the social studies department.
