Man fatally stabbed during altercation near Plant City

One man is dead, and another is under arrest after a Saturday night stabbing. 

According to Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, the incident happened shortly after 10 p.m. at a mechanic shop on James L. Redman Parkway. 

According to investigators, two men who were neighbors got into an altercation. It escalated when one man picked up a pocket knife and stabbed the other man several times.  

Moses Wilson of Plant City was declared dead at the scene and James Michael Meeks was arrested and charged with homicide. 

Friends and family say Wilson lived and ran the mechanic shop at the location. 

"Painting cars was the way he made money, it was the way that he kept all of his kids connected," said Damon Wilson, the victims son. "My dad was the man when it came to painting cars."

Wilson's family stayed at the scene of the crime for hours Sunday morning, comforting each other and trying to being the healing process. 


I miss him, he's one of the greateset guys out there." said Rachel Lawrence, the mother of the victim's son.
