Sarasota police surrounded the downtown Westin hotel in an effort to capture a man wanted for shooting into an apartment.

They took 25-year-old Ryan Flanzer into custody without incident.

Earlier in the day, police say Flanzer lied about his identity to gain access to a downtown apartment building, at 1350 Main Street, so he could shoot into one of the apartments.

Police say he was wearing a tactical vest and a badge and armed with an unknown type of firearm.

Flanzer identified himself as a process server and was allowed entry to the 3rd floor, according to police, where he fired several rounds into the door of one apartment.

Police say the apartment was unoccupied. They also say the shooting was "an isolated incident with a specific intended target(s)."
