Manatee County deputy shoots, kills man

- Manatee County deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at 4813 Bookelia Circle, Bradenton, Saturday afternoon.

They say Donna Stoddart  reported that her husband, Marc Stoddart,  had been drinking, was armed with a knife and was threatening to harm her and himself. 

When deputies arrived, the suspect was outside, armed with a knife and had cut his wrists. 

The wife managed to escape the residence. 

Deputies confronted the suspect and told him repeatedly to drop the knife. 

The suspect refused and came at the deputy in a threatening manner. 

The deputy was forced to fatally shoot the suspect. 

There were no other injuries in the incident. 

The deputy will be placed on routine administrative leave while the incident is investigated.
