Manatee deputy resigns after domestic battery arrest

- A Manatee County detective has resigned after being arrested for domestic battery against his wife.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were called to a domestic disturbance at a Palmetto home Wednesday night.  After investigating, they arrested Jeffrey Bliss.

Bliss, 45, was a detective with the sheriff’s office but resigned that position this morning.

He’d been with the agency for 16 years, a spokesperson added.
