Massive Lake Parker sewage spill blamed on work crew

People who wanted to swim or fish in Lake Parker this weekend will need to find a new place to go.

Warning signs have been posted around the lake after a half-million gallons of untreated sewage poured into it yesterday.

It's the biggest spill of its kind in Lakeland in 30 years.

City workers accidentally hit a sewage line while taking down a tree. That line has now been fixed.  But city officials say the lake will have to naturally clean itself up over time.
