More than 30 dogs were seized from an Inverness home over the weekend after a Crime Stopper tip led Citrus County Animal Control to what 1 official is calling one of the most horrific cases they have worked.

All the dogs involved are expected to survive.

A total of 36 dogs were brought to the Countryside Animal Clinic in Beverly Hills on Sunday. 2 veterinarians and several support staff are working to nurse the dogs back to health.

Animal control workers found the dogs were severely neglected and had significant medical issues that they had endured for an extended amount of time.

The dogs were without clean water, food, and had not been bathed for some time. According to a report from the county, some of these dogs had feces matted in their fur all over their bodies.

Ryan McLean and Deanna Feldman were both arrested for felony animal cruelty and 27 counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty.

Many of these dogs will require costly medical care. The county can go before a judge to petition for custody of the dogs if the owners do not sign a surrender form.

The investigations is still ongoing.
