Mother pup broke through crate to be with puppies

There is nothing stronger than a mother's love as witnessed by the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.

"Liberty" was found roaming the streets alone and very pregnant, the Humane Society said. Workers picked her up and she gave birth in the truck on the way to the Hillsborough County Pet Resource center.

When mom and her pups were being transferred to the Humane Society the next day, Liberty was put in a separate crate from her puppies that she apparently would not tolerate. When the crews pulled up to the Humane Society and opened up the truck, they saw Liberty had ripped off the door to their kennel and climbed in there with them.

No one could believe she was able to fit in such a small cage.

Liberty was taken out of the van and workers at the Humane Society assured her she would not be separated from her puppies again.

Sadly, though, the staff said the puppies are struggling, and they're not sure all of them will make it. A vet tech has taken home the whole family so they can be in a quiet, calm place to relax and gain strength.

The Humane Society will keep everyone posted on their progress on its Facebook page.
