We're learning more about a man killed during a home burglary in Citrus County.  The body of Don Terryl Plumeri was found Friday inside a home on Candier Court.

The 71-year-old was a prominent musical composer.  His work has appeared in more than 50 Hollywood films.

Investigators believe someone forced their way into a home Plumeri was renting on Candier Court Friday morning.  Detectives say there have been a dozen daytime burglaries in that area, and the crimes could be connected.

Neighbors are on alert. "I slept with my gun in my nightstand, loaded. One in the chamber," said Gerry Bird, who lives nearby. "Its a quiet neighborhood, no problems and all of a sudden this comes up, it makes you lock your doors."

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office is urging people to lock their doors and windows and to report anything suspicious.

"The homicide was vicious, it was brutal. and when you have a crime like that in the community it sure does elevate the situation we're in now," said Sheriff Jeff Dawsy.

Since January there have been about a dozen burglaries that seem to be related.  They all occur during the day when the thief or thieves believe no one is home.

"What i really want from the community is their eyes. I want them to look around and really know what's going on in our community.  If they see something unusual, different, I want them to call us," said Sheriff Dawsy.
