Car fire causes delays on Sunshine Skyway Bridge

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - All lanes of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge are back open after both were shut down Thursday afternoon due to a car fire. 

Florida Highway Patrol troopers say the rear tire of a car traveling in the inside northbound lane malfunctioned and the driver lost control, colliding with the barrier wall. The car then caught fire.

St. Pete Fire Rescue responded and put out the fire. No one was injured.
