New Port Richey boy dies after found in neighborhood pool

A two-year-old boy who went missing was found in a New Port Richey pool, and later passed away, officers say.

On March 6, New Port Richey police responded to a home in the 5500 block of Senate Lane before 6 p.m. after the boy was reported missing.

Officers searched the home and surrounding area, until he was found in a neighborhood pool. Police said the officers jumped into the water to remove him and performed CPR.

The boy was airlifted to St. Joseph’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police did not disclose the amount of time between the missing child report and when the boy was found in the pool, or if the cause of death was drowning. They say the investigation is active.
