New vision for St. Pete Pier unveiled

- St. Petersburg City Council members got a look at some updated renderings of the new St. Pete Pier.

The Pier design team - Rogers Architects+Urban Designers and ASD – unveiled the new images during a City Council meeting Thursday morning after getting opinions from the public earlier in the week.

Some of the new elements include art spaces, waterfront dining and an open air market.

St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman said Tuesday the goal is to get it right the first time.

“I’m very pleased from what we said in the beginning. What we thought went wrong from the first time is, we got concerned with the form over function and now we're focusing on the function,” said Kriseman.
