A local high school band is on its way to New York City Monday morning to perform in the 90th Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The Joe E. Newsome High School marching band and color guard in Lithia is the first in Hillsborough County to ever be invited to attend the legendary parade. They spent the last year raising funds so that they'd be able to represent the county and state in the nationally-televised event. Reports say the total cost of the trip is $350,000.

Each year, top marching bands of all varieties from across the country are invited to represent their states in the annual parade.

Newsome is one of only 12 bands participating in this year's event.

The impressive, and excited, high school musicians loaded into buses early Monday morning for the long drive to New York.

Watch the Newsome High School Marching Band and Color Guard performing live in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade at 9 a.m. on NBC and CBS.
