A fire at a mobile home in Odessa Monday morning killed a man and sent his wife to the hospital.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue said they received a call at about 5:40 a.m. of a fire in the Silver Dollar Golf and Trap Club community.

Neighbors told FOX 13 the woman living there made it out. But her husband, who's disabled, was trapped inside.

"A woman was knocking on my door, ringing the bell. I came out, she said her husband was in the building. She was quite hysterical," said George Viprino, who lives across the street.

Viprino said he wanted to try to get into the building but the home was completely engulfed and there wasn't anything he could do.

"I went around to where the door was and the flames were coming right out the door, so there was no way in heck that I was going to get in that house," Viprino continued. "She must have been lucky to get out herself."

Firefighters said the woman is recovering at the hospital.

Investigators have not determined how or where the fire started. They also have not yet released the names of the victims.
