Orange Co. teen murder suspects arrested in Polk

- Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said the teens had long juvenile records including multiple felonies.

He expressed anger over the fact that the teens had been released from detention.

"These are the poster children of why people are misguided when they think we're treating these children, these innocent children too tough with the criminal justice system," Judd said.

Judd also said Joachin and Miller were found with a gun stolen from a November 29 burglary of the Tampa Arms Club in Hillsborough County.

Surveillance video caught a mob of thieves breaking in and stealing dozens of weapons.

Deputies in Polk County stopped a multi-county crime spree after they arrested two teenagers who have been accused of murder in Orange County.

Orange County deputies said on Saturday, around 4:57 p.m., Polk County contacted them about a stolen car.

Based on the descriptions, deputies believed the pair inside were suspects in a recent homicide in Orange County.

Polk County deputies started to chase the suspects who crashed the car, officials said.

Deputies arrested 16-year-old Jayvon Joachin and 17-year-old Deshwan Miller and deputies confirmed they were homicide suspects.

Both teens suffered minor injuries.

They were treated and released.

Deputies confirmed to FOX 13 News the teens were arrested for their role in the death of  27-year-old Kendra Lewis, who was shot and killed at a Citgo on December 7th.

Lewis was in the parking lot with her 5-year-old when shots were fired and she was struck.
