Overturned mail truck backs up SB I-75

- Drivers experienced major delays on southbound Interstate 75 after an accident involving an overturned mail truck Wednesday morning.

The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash happened around 4:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-75, not far from the Big Bend Road exit.

Traffic was delayed back to Gibsonton Drive as a result, but the delays worsened around 7:00 as officials shut down all southbound lanes and worked to turn the truck back on it's wheels.

Lanes have since reopened in the area.

It remains unclear what caused the crash.

The driver, said to be a private contractor for the post office, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The other driver involved was not injured.

FOX 13 will continue with updates as they become available.
