Part of Hillsborough Avenue closed after deadly accident

- Tampa police are on the scene of a deadly pedestrian accident.

It happened just after 3 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Hillsborough Avenue and Hesperides Street.

Police say a pedestrian wearing all black clothing walked into the path of an SUV just beyond the crosswalk.

The driver of the SUV stopped and is cooperating with police.

Westbound Hillsborough Avenue from Lois Avenue to Hesperides Street is down to one lane and will remain that way until detectives complete the traffic crash investigation.
