Pasco County suspect connected to 48 fraud cases arrested

Pasco County deputies arrested a man suspected in 48 fraud cases over the course of three years, they announced Monday morning.

Detectives said they received their first case in connection to Daniel Santos back in 2016. Within a year, he was connected to “numerous” fraud cases in the county. They said he was arrested several times, but would make bond and “continue his lifestyle of criminal activity.”

They said Santos obtained credit and debit cards by either buying, stealing or obtaining them through “mail box hopping.” Detectives say his crimes with other suspects turned into a multi-million dollar fraud ring.

Within the past week, detectives watched online videos posted by Santos to determine his location. They said he was aware there were active warrants for his arrest. Eventually, they identified the condominium observed in the videos, and he was arrested in Miami on April 19.

Additional details surround the case and arrest of Santos will be released during a Monday press conference at 11 a.m.
