Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run in Sarasota

- The Sarasota Police Department is searching for the driver who fatally struck a pedestrian and fled the scene.

The victim, an unidentified female, was found deceased by a passerby on the 4000 block of Fruitville Road shortly before midnight Saturday.

Based on evidence at the scene, investigators determined the woman was the victim of a hit-and-run crash.

Officers are working to notify next of kin. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Sarasota police.
