ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. (FOX 13) - The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that left a pedestrian dead in Zephyrhills.
It happened Saturday evening shortly after 7:00 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 301 and Vinson Avenue.
Troopers say a cab driver in a minivan was driving northbound on U.S. 301 when 51-year-old Terry Anthony Putz entered the roadway in his wheelchair. The cab driver struck Putz in the road.
Putz was rushed to Advent Health Zephyrhills, but he later died from his injuries.
The highway patrol says charges are pending, but they do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
