Pick-up truck slams into Riverview home

- A drunk driver slammed into a family’s home, narrowly missing a child’s bedroom this morning.

The crash happened just before 2 a.m. in the 8700 block of Barcin Circle in Riverview.  Those inside tell FOX 13 they heard a loud “bang” and tried to leave the house,  but the door would not open.

Everyone made it out safely through the back of the house.

A witness described hearing  the impact and seeing a pickup truck lodged on top of a car in his neighbor’s carport.  According to the witness, the truck’s driver tried to leave the scene but two men stopped him. Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Deputies later arrested and charged Rivero Yordys, 37, with DUI with property damage.

Damage included the truck,  three cars, and sections of the family’s home. A man inside told FOX 13 the truck stopped 50 to 60 inches from his daughter’s bedroom. It landed in the laundry area.

Authorities notified the Red Cross to assist and code enforcement to check the structural safety of the house.

The cost of damage is not known.
