Pinellas County teen arrested for school-shooting threat

- The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said a 14-year-old has been arrested for threatening a school shooting on the social media app Snapchat.

In a photo posted on Snapchat, the young suspect is holding what appears to be a rifle, and text written on the image says "round 3 on Florida on Tuesday." Investigators told FOX 13 the suspect was actually holding a BB gun that looks like an AR-15 rifle.

Deputies said the the teen attends Lealman Innovation Academy and they believed the threat was referencing that school.

The sheriff's office arrested and charged the teenager with written threats to kill or do bodily injury.

The teen's arrest is the latest in a string of "copycat" threats happening across the country. A South Carolina teenager posted a similar threat on Snapchat. In that threat, the suspect wrote "round 2 of Florida tomorrow." He was also arrested.
