Police: Armed man robs Sarasota Walmart store

- Sarasota police said an armed man robbed a Walmart Neighborhood Market Sunday morning.

According to investigators, the Walmart at 3500 North Tamiami Trail was robbed around 9 a.m. 

Police said the suspect was armed with a gun and demanded cash at the check-cashing counter. He fled from the store with a large amount of cash.

The suspect is described as a black male believed to be in his 30s, between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing around 170 lbs. The man was wearing a blue baseball cap, a dark shirt under a flannel shirt and carrying a dark tote string backpack

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact the Sarasota Police Department.
