Sarasota police investigate 4 shootings in 1 week

- For the fourth time in one week, the Sarasota Police Department is investigating a shooting within the city limits.

The latest happened just after 3:30 a.m. Sunday. Police were called to the area of Palmadelia Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King Way where a man was shot. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to investigators.

“Unfortunately the suspect, or suspects, responsible have not been apprehended,” according to Genevieve Judge, spokesperson for the Sarasota Police Department. “We will continue our investigation and continue to search for them.”

Police aren’t ruling out a connection between the separate incidents.

“We have a detective assigned to each case to try to figure out exactly what happened,” said Judge. “It’s still early on, so that’s why we are making a plea to the community that if you have any information on any of the shootings, give the police a call.”
