Armed man robs Papa John's in Winter Haven

- Winter Haven police are investigating an armed robbery at Papa John's Pizza after the same suspect attempted to rob the delivery driver in the parking lot.

It happened Friday night around 11:00 p.m. at the Papa John's on Southeast Plaza.

The driver says he was getting out of his vehicle when he was approached by a heavy-set black male pointing a handgun and saying, "give me your money."

When the driver told the suspect he had no cash, the suspect reportedly pointed to the door for the driver to go inside.

The clerk at the counter was on the phone with a customer ordering a pizza at the time. That caller heard the clerk yelling and immediately hung up and called 911.

Police arrived on scene and a K-9 tracked the robber to a nearby Publix, but lost the trail. The suspect was not located.

Anyone with any information on the identity of this suspect is asked to call Winter Haven police.
