Police: Sex offender arrested in North Port machete attack

- Police in North Port told FOX 13 that a sex offender has been arrested for a machete attack.

The incident happened shortly after 7 p.m. Friday at Ricky Deising's home on Narcissus Terrace.

Police said they responded for a domestic disturbance and found a bloodied and unconscious woman at the house. Deising, 58, was found holding a bloody machete, according to investigators.

Deising, who is a registered sex offender, was taken into custody after officers used a Taser on him. He is being charged with attempted murder.

The victim, who hasn't been identified, is expected to survive.

Deising was convicted in Sarasota County in 1992 for sexual battery of a child and lewd and lascivious molestation of a child.
