Police: Thief leaves $80,000 in damage to cars

Police in St. Pete say they've arrested the man who broke into a parking garage and caused $80,000 in damage to several vehicles.

It was early in the morning back on November 7, police say, when Donovan David Alan Franklin broke into the McNulty Lofts garage off 2nd Street S and smashed his way into two cars.  They say he also damaged two expensive cars parked nearby -- totaling $80,000 in damage.

Surveillance footage led to his arrest.  Police say the video shows the 18-year-old trying to punch his way into one of the cars.

He's been charged with commercial burglary, two counts of felony criminal mischief, two counts of vehicle burglary, and one count of misdemeanor criminal mischief.
