Polk County crews repairing small sinkhole in road

EAGLE LAKE (FOX 13) - Polk County Fire Rescue crews say a small sinkhole has developed near the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 17 South and Eagle Avenue.  Eagle Avenue to 3rd Street is closed until further notice.

At the surface the hole is small, with a diameter of approximately 2 feet. But crews say a much larger erosion under the surface has occurred.

The road is closed due to safety concerns while crews work to repair the sinkhole.
