Port Richey burglary suspect dies after being Tased

A man died after breaking into a home and later being shocked by a stun gun by deputies, Pasco County deputies said.

Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco said during a news conference Saturday at noon, Torrey Lamar Robinson died at a Pasco County hospital.

The preliminary investigation into the incident showed Robinson broke into a home on Dresden Lane. He had multiple cuts after breaking through a window, then began fighting with the person who was home at the time.

Deputies and fire rescue came and tried to take the suspect into custody, but he fought them, even while EMS tried to care for his wounds, deputies said.

A Taser was used to subdue Robinson. He was handcuffed and became unconscious. EMS tried to save his life, but he later died.

Sheriff Nocco said the investigation would continue.
